End of Winter Update

WOWZA! It’s been far too long since I’ve given an update, so it’s probably time to explain what I’ve been up to and why it’s been so quiet around here recently.

Let’s start off by going back a few months…

Holiday Rush

Holiday orders piling up on my kitchen table – ready to start their journey.

Shortly after my last post leading into the holidays, business in my shop skyrocketed (at least compared to what I’m used to – I am still just a one woman operation after all). Pretty much every morning between Thanksgiving and Christmas was spent filling orders until noon and then spending the rest of the day trying to restock things when I could. Things even picked up to the point where I couldn’t fit orders in my mailbox anymore, and I had to drive them in a large bag to the Post Office every other day.

Going into the holidays I thought I was prepared, and I was to some extent, but not quite as much as I would have liked. Ornaments of every type were big sellers, especially my flying spaghetti monster and dice ornaments. Next year I’ll try to have more ready before the rush starts – I feel like I spent far too much time trying to recreate things as they sold out and it left me feeling pretty stressed. Even through the stress, I was quite happy with how the season turned out. Reviews have been trickling in, and people seem overall pleased with their orders. Thankfully there was only one issue this year with an item getting lost by USPS, but then it was miraculously found unharmed only a week later. Overall, this was another great experience for me to learn and prepare even better for next year. 🙂

Things finally started to slow down a couple of days before Christmas, and I had a wonderful holiday with my entire family together (for the first time in MANY years).

Surprise Basement Renovation Project

With the holidays over and things back to normal, I figured it was time to finally start working on a project I had long planned – renovating my basement and entryway/stairwell leading into it. Every January, since I moved into my house has been ‘pick a room and repaint it’ month. I’ve done every room in my house so far (minus my bedroom), and this year it was finally my basement’s turn. The room was super dark, the paint was chipping and the ceiling and walls were terribly discolored in places. I started the project by targeting a part of wall that looked to be in worse shape than the rest, and boy was I in for a surprise – black mold! That’s right, we found black mold behind the walls, which as I’m sure you’re all aware, is quite the health concern.

From then on out what began as a simple painting project turned into an entire renovation project complete with the ripping out of walls and studs, reinstalling new ones, putting it all back together, and then of course – painting it all! Let’s just say that I’ve more or less been living in my basement for the past two months. (For anyone interested you can see all the progress pictures on twitter, including before and after pics here.) Only now am I finally seeing an end in sight. Everything moldy has been replaced, we (hopefully) took care of the moisture problem, and I’ve completely repainted the entire room, cabinets, stairs, railings, door frames and doors. The final result isn’t perfect, but it looks monumentally better than what we started with. I have a few small finishing touches to take care of, and I’ll finally be free to see daylight again!

Recent Crafts

Norse Rune Dangle Earrings

I did take a couple of crafting breaks (for the sake of my sanity) while my epic basement project was going on. I’ve always loved Norse Mythology and figured it was time I made some Norse Rune Earrings. (After doing a few searches, I was surprised at just how few were available on etsy.) I made matching necklaces to go along with them, and they are available in both red and black runes.

The weather was beautiful when they were completed; everything was covered in a pretty blanket of white and my American Cranberry bush had berries on it still, so naturally, I had to take all of my pictures outside on said bush. You can see more pictures on one of the earring listings here: Norse Rune Dangle Earrings.

A couple weeks ago I also made a few more COFFEElementals, for those of us who can’t live without coffee and of course like summoning the elements. I tried to make enough this time for everyone who wanted one (as I sold out immediately last time). I sold quite a few when I announced them on twitter and I currently have two left.

Future Plans

I just got back from a nice week long vacation visiting my family out of state, and now feel refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to pull out my clay again. Within the next couple of weeks I plan on working on a few projects I’ve had brewing in the back of my mind for a while. When I’m done with those, I’ll be opening for commissions (for customizable dice dragons only). Keep an eye on my commission page for announcement – I will also announce when I’m open on twitter.

Stay tuned.

Black Friday 2017 Etsy Sale

Howdy all. I’m going to keep this post short because time is something I’m a little short on these days – at least until after the Holidays are over.

The sales on my store have really ramped up over the past month, and I’m quite literally filling up my mailbox all the way to the back with 4x4x4 boxes almost every day (I’m sure my mail carrier just LOVES me). I’ve been trying to stay on top of getting orders out asap, while recreating items I’ve run out of, while also trying to fit in the time to still create new things. (WTB more time in a day pls.) Thankfully I started making ornaments back in the spring, so hopefully I won’t run out of too many things. Either way, I’ll find out soon enough! Every holiday season tests me further to the limits and brings on a whole new learning experience, and as crazy as it is, I LOVE IT.

Anyway, let’s get on with the whole point of this post, shall we?

This year I’ll finally be participating in etsy’s Black Friday sale. Over half of the items in my store will be marked down for 24 hours starting at 12:00am on Friday November 24. Most items marked down will be anywhere from 10 – 25% off, with a few marked down to 40% off. Everything you see on the little advertisement I made above will be included in the sale. I’ll also have dice ornaments (d6 AND d20 ornaments), Warcraft ornaments, various polymer clay necklaces & dice necklaces, keychains, and almost all of my bottle necklaces will be marked down. Some items included in the sale I have multiple of available, but a good portion of them are single items – once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Until next time, stay well and enjoy the eggnog!

Wowhead Feature, Holiday Prep and General Update

Wow, where do I even start this post? So much has happened over the last few weeks. Between this site going live, being featured on Wowhead (Wowhead Artist’s Corner and Giveaway – Euphyley), trying to prepare for the holidays and responding to the flurry of new inquiries over the last couple of days – it’s been a wild October.

Wowhead Feature and Website:

I guess I’ll just start off on the Wowhead feature. I was completely blown out of the water when I was asked if I’d do it. I’m not just a WoW addict, I’m a Wowhead addict as well. It’s the #1 most visited site that pops up on my browser. I check out the WoW related news on there pretty much daily, comment frequently, love submitting screenshots and of course participating in their awesome scavenger hunts. Being featured on what is essentially my favorite website was just the biggest honor I could imagine.

Wowhead Rocket Necklace – Check out the Article on Wowhead for a Chance to Win it!

I was asked to get everything ready for the feature a few weeks ago, and I’m not gonna lie – not screaming it out to the world the moment I was asked was pretty difficult. Instead, I realized I needed to focus on my website which was not yet finished. You see, I purchased this domain name a few months ago, but got a bit frustrated with some of the behind-the-scenes technical stuff (I’m not the most computer savvy person). Basically, I had pushed the website to the side instead of focusing on it and finishing, and chose to start new clay projects instead. However, knowing I’d be featured on Wowhead was a great excuse to button down and finally figure this out and GET IT DONE! The whole end of September and beginning of October I spent pretty much every waking moment watching Youtube videos and reading articles on how to figure out some of this website stuff. You want to know how long it took me to figure out how to change the color of one simple little button to match the rest of my site? You’d probably think I was studying theoretical physics if I told you the real answer…

Anyway, you can thank Wowhead for this site being more or less completed (minus the shop section). Without that extra push this site probably still wouldn’t be live.

Commissions and Sculpting News:

Of course due to the feature, I’ve been getting a lot of new traffic from people who are hearing about my art for the first time (HELLO AND WELCOME NEW FOLLOWERS!). This means I’ve been getting a lot more private inquiries from people wanting to know if the things they’ve seen on Wowhead will be available on my store, if I can fill private orders for similar items, if I can do special orders, etc. The gist is this: I am not taking on any special orders/commissions before the holidays. Any time I can find to craft is reserved for stocking up on ornaments and the occasional personal art. I will be opening up for commissions after the holidays (January 2018). You can keep an eye on my commission page and my Twitter for future announcements regarding commissions.

I WILL be listing a few of the small sculptures that were featured (Tauren unicorn, Nightmare Treant, etc.) within the next few days. I’ve had a lot of people ask me if I’ll be doing more Pepe Christmas Ornaments and murloc earrings – the answer is yes. Both are time consuming to create though (relative to the time I have to craft), so there will not be many available. Again, I will announce on Twitter when I have more listed. I’ll probably be doing a holiday giveaway of some sort on Twitter as well. (Twitter is my preferred social media site fyi, it is the best place to follow me for news and announcements.)

More Dice Dragons Coming Soon *RAWR*

In sculpting news, I’ve been working on a lot of ornaments recently. Elemental ornaments, dice ornaments, you name it, I’m trying to have enough ready for the holidays. Every year I never seem to have enough available – this year… this year will be the one I’m actually prepared (crosses fingers). I also ran out of dice dragons on the shop, so I’m working on a few more and should have those up shortly. Oh, I almost forgot – Christmas themed dragon ornaments! I will be doing those again this year. I will have some listed….soon.

D6 Ornaments with Wizard Hats

Finally, I’ve had a few people already ask me if I could offer some sort of a discount for purchases of multiple dice ornaments. The answer is yes. I will have a few different listings of various dice types (d6, d10, d12 and d20’s) where a discount is offered for purchasing multiple ornaments. These will all be very similar (and nearly identical in color) with pearly green dice and red wizard hats with holly and berry accents (see picture on the right). There will be two different price breaks (at three ornaments, and another at five). Here is the first listing of this type here: D6 Ornament with Wizard Hat. More to follow shortly!

Where this Ship Came from, Where it’s Heading

Well hello there world. I guess I’ll start off my very first blog post by telling you why this website has been created and where I see it going. Here goes nothin’!

I’ve been all over the internet for a while now, sharing my work on a variety of social media platforms – twitter, facebook, instagram, tumblr, deviantArt, you name it. Although I do enjoy those platforms (and will continue to use them), not any one single platform could do everything I envisioned for my growing hobby (turned business). Ultimately I figured it was about time I just have everything all neatly in one place. That place is here, Silver Dragon Creations.

Why the name Silver Dragon Creations? Well I’m glad you asked! If any of you remember me from Blogger, you’ll know that I’ve always been quite the lover of hunting down rare spawns in World of Warcraft. I enjoyed that aspect of the game so much that I dedicated an entire blog to writing about my experiences hunting them down and putting together guides to help others do the same. Well in World of Warcraft, rare spawns are known for their silver dragon portraits, that identify them as such. The name Silver Dragon Creations is essentially a nod at where I came from, a wink to all the Warcraft players out there, and a subtle way of saying that what you’re getting from me is indeed rare. Oh, and I also make actual dragons, so there’s that too…

Pearly White Dice Dragon

So anyway, back to what’ll be happenin’ around these here parts:

I’ll be maintaining a gallery, which I have added many of my previous works to, and I will be updating it as I create new things. I also plan on using the blog portion of this website to discuss new ideas, projects I’m working on, and maybe even a few peeks behind the scenes and how-to tutorial guides. On top of that I will keep a commission page up to date for those looking to commission me in the future – when I plan on opening slots I will announce it there ahead of time. I will likely add a nifty commission form on there as well.

One of the biggest changes to come will be to my actual store. In the top menu my ‘Store’ currently directs you toward my etsy store. Eventually the store link will link to my own store right here on

TL;DR: This is going to be your one stop shop to see all of my work, finished and unfinished.
